The Metaverse is Dead And It Did Not Even Arrive Yet

Becoming Virtual isn’t as fun as you might think

Most of us didn’t know what the Metaverse was until Facebook rebranded itself to Meta in late October 2021. Since then, it feels like all big corporations and brands are trying their best to get on the wagon of this Meta-train. Why, you might ask? Just because it is the new buzzword of 2021–22.

I have to say that I found the concept weird from the beginning. I couldn’t understand any good reason why people would leave the universe and go to the metaverse in its current stage.

Do not get me wrong, I’m not throwing the idea under the bus, and I’m not saying it won’t work. I am saying that the Metaverse is not yet technically ready for our demands — I’ll explain what I mean while we progress down this story. I’m well invested in NFTs and the Metaverse — We started the first NFT marketplace in the MENA region (Niftasouq.com). But that is a story for another time.
